The Extreme rib is completely made out of prepreg carbon using state of the art autoclave technology that is also used in the Formula 1. The carbon fibre laminate is very light, yet extremely strong.

TornadoSport manages the ABN AMRO Extreme 40

Holmatro, leading manufacturer of high-pressure hydraulic equipment, was the first to adopt the Extreme 40 concept into it's marketing strategy programme. The Holmatro, also the first 40ft catamaran built, sailed it's first race in the Volvo Extreme 40 Grand Prix in Sanxenxo at the Prologue of the Volvo Ocean Race 2005/2006.

The Extreme 40 is a 40ft catamaran, developped in 2005 by TornadoSport.The Extreme 40 made it's debute in the international racing scene during several stop overs at the 2005/2006 Volvo Ocean Race, in an in-port racing format, called the Grand Prix Racing Series.
